Lucy

Lucy qualified as a teacher in 2014 and began her career working in Key Stage 1 where she gained a wealth of experience in early education giving her a strong understanding of phonics and early numeracy; the building blocks of education.

Lucy then moved to a school in York (where she currently still teaches in Y4) and during this time has extended her experience in KS2 year groups. Lucy is passionate about student wellbeing and took over responsibility for PSHCE (Personal, social, health and economic education) across the school.

Lucy is incredibly passionate about meeting the individual needs of children – a value we at Leap in2 Learning share – and adapting her teaching approach to suit them. She also believes that learning should be fun and creative wherever possible. Lucy has extensive training and experience in Numicon (a maths resource commonly used in many primary schools), Talk for Writing (a method of teaching writing developed by English author and poet Pie Corbett) and White Rose Hub Maths.

Lucy has a wealth of experience teaching children who have additional needs including ASD, ADHD, dyslexia, speech and language needs and children who have working memory difficulties. Lucy’s experience across the primary age range puts her in an excellent position to support her students at Leap in2 Learning and we are very lucky to have her in our team.
